Juan Estevan Arellano

Juan Estevan Arellano is a writer and researcher working now on acequias, traditional agriculture and traditional foods. He just published the first English translation of the first book ever written in the Spanish language about agriculture, "Obra de Agricultura," by Gabriel Alonso de Herrera. It's English title is "Ancient Agriculture," published by Ancient City Press. He writes a column for the Taos News, titled Otras Voces. His novel, Inocencio: Ni pica ni escarda pero siempre se come el mejor elote, won the Premio José Fuentes Mares in Mexico in 1994. A graduate of New Mexico State University and the Washington Journalism Center, he farms 2.5 acres in Embudo, where his roots go back to 1725.

Matt Foster
Long-Range Planner for the Town of Taos, most recent Board Member. Matthew has 13 years of land use and community development planning experience. He is currently working on an annexation plan, green building program, and updates to the landscape ordinance.

Painter, poet (The Life You Ordered Has Arrived, Parallax Press),10 year resident of Taos via San Francisco, Boulder, San Miguel de Allende, professional mediator(Center for Dispute Resolution, Denver),conference director (Naropa Institute and also for Buddhist meditation retreats with Thich Nhat Hanh).Currently working at Coldwell Banker Lota Realty as a real estate developer. Educated in permaculture (studied w/ Bill Mollison) and feng shui (trained as a consultant, Integrative School, San Diego).
